For the third year in a row, it will be Coupeville against the Nisqually League in the girls District 3 1A basketball tournament.

Since the formation of the Olympic League 1A division three years ago, the Wolves have been the only conference team to make it to the final four in district tournament play.

This season Coupeville (15-4), the Olympic League champion, begins the postseason when it takes on Seattle Christian (15-2), the second-place team from the Nisqually League, at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14. All remaining games in the tournament will be played at Bellarmine Prep in Tacoma.

The Warriors thumped Chimacum 52-22 Saturday to advance to play Coupeville. Chimacum edged Vashon Island 30-27 last Thursday to earn a shot at Seattle Christian.

Coupeville avoided the play-in rounds by winning the Olympic League title.

In the other side of the bracket, Nisqually champ Bellevue Christian (16-4) faces third-place Cascade Christian (9-11).

The losers play in a loser-out game at 6 p.m. Thursday, followed by the winners at 7:45 in the title game. The winner of the loser-out game and the loser of the championship game meet at noon Saturday to scrap for the second and final berth into the regional tournament.

Seattle Christian and Coupeville are no strangers when it comes to district action. The Warriors knocked the Wolves out of the 2015 tournament with a 50-44 overtime win.

Coupeville returned the favor last winter, eliminating the Warriors and moving on to the regional with a 49-33 win.
