Coupeville changes site of school board meetings

The Coupeville School Board is getting a new home.

A classroom at the high school/middle school has been converted to accommodate Coupeville’s school board meetings.

The first meeting at the new site in room A-305 next to the district office will be at 6:30 p.m., Monday, Jan. 25.

The board had been meeting in the elementary school library as far back as anyone could remember.

“It’s beautiful actually,” said Julie Hunt, administrative assistant with the school district.

With new paint and new carpet, the room was part of a plan that was a long time coming, Hunt said.

“We really wanted to have a permanent space rather than the library,” she said. “We were always having to set it up and tear it down each month. Now we have a room just dedicated to the school board. We just felt they deserved that.”

Coupeville’s school board is made up of president Kathleen Anderson, vice president Christie Sears and fellow members Venessa Matros, Chris Chan and Glenda Merwine. Bree Daigneault is the student representative.
