WhidbeyHealth has opened Women’s Care Oak Harbor in the same building as the hospital’s primary care, sleep care and physical therapy clinics.
The clinic, located on Goldie Road, offers obstetrics, gynecology and nurse practitioner midwifery services.
“We’re improving access to care for those who live in the Oak Harbor area and north,” said Kay Draper, clinic manager. “Our expansion of services will also include a second midwife for those who prefer this model of support.”
Previously, WhidbeyHealth only provided these types of services at its women’s care clinic in Coupeville. The Oak Harbor office includes four exam rooms and the capability to do the same gynecology services as the Coupeville office as well as full, in-house lab services.
Providers there will also provide young women and girls education and support regarding contraception, STD prevention and treatment, and pre-pregnancy planning, Draper said.
Additionally, she said there is the possibility of eventually expanding services to include prenatal education classes. WhidbeyHealth’s website, whidbeyhealth.org, will be updated if any new services are added, according to Patricia Duff, marketing coordinator for the hospital.
At this point, patients can expect to be able to make same-day appointments if necessary, she said. One provider will be available through the month of December, and after that five providers will rotate through the Oak Harbor office.
Draper said patients will be able to see the same providers from the Coupeville office.
All the equipment is new and was purchased with funds from the WhidbeyHealth Foundation. The clinic is equipped with an ultrasound machine; colposcope, which examines the cervix; and a device to perform biopsies.
The office is open 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Those who wish to make an appointment can call 360-240-4055.
