Commissioners for the North Whidbey Park and Recreation District are inviting the public to attend a special workshop Thursday, Jan. 25.

The workshop will be held during the first 30-45 minutes of the board’s regular meeting and will help it to formulate a strategic plan for the coming year.

Newly appointed board president Sean Merrill said he wants to work with the public and groups in the community to develop ideas to get the pool back up and running as well as how to approach running a levy again in November 2018.

Merrill said the board needs to figure out how it can regain the public’s trust and confidence.

“There’s nothing worse than seeing that black pool and no one swimming it,” he said. “We all hate to see that.”

The board’s regular meetings are held 6:30 p.m. the fourth Thursday of the month, with the exception of November and December, at the Oak Harbor Pool.

Meeting dates change due to holidays at the end of the year.
