The Trust Board of Ebey’s Landing National Historical Reserve honored Ron Boyer as the 2013 Volunteer of the Year at last Friday’s Community Potluck.
For seven years Boyer has been the coordinator between the Coupeville Lions Club and the Ebey’s Field School.
He coordinates the volunteer wworkers for these preservation projects.
This includes scheduling enough volunteers to work two shifts a day for two weeks, getting them to safety training before the project starts as well as being on site and working every day himself.
Boyer is also involved with the Ebey’s and National Park Service staff in identifying the project each year and what the work scope will include.
Because of the high degree of respect Boyer has from his fellow Coupeville Lions and his great organizational skills he has been able to make a significant contribution to the preservation of historic structures in Ebey’s Reserve.
He was presented the 2013 Volunteer of the Year award at the Community Potluck held at the Crocket Barn on Friday, Nov. 1
