About 900 Puget Sound Energy customers in Coupeville will be left in the dark during a planned power outage from about 10 p.m. Thursday, June 28 until 6 a.m. Friday, June 29.
PSE is making equipment repairs due to exposure to “salt air.”
PSE advises customers in the service area to unplug computers, televisions and sensitive electronics, minimize opening refrigerator and freezer doors during the outage, check to make sure all heat-producing appliances such as stoves, toaster ovens, irons and hair curlers are turned off.
If electricity is required to run a household’s water or refill a toilet, PSE recommends having a reserve of water on hand prior during the planned power outage.
After power is restored, wait about 10 minutes before turning back on equipment, and do it in stages so the system isn’t overloaded.
The affected area is mainly in and near Coupeville’s downtown business district, said PSE Outreach Manager Walt Blackford.
