Upset-minded Mountlake Terrace put a scare in the Oak Harbor High School volleyball team before the visiting Wildcats pulled out a 3-1 win Tuesday, Oct. 2.
On paper, the Hawks, winners of only one of eight contests this fall, looked like no match for the undefeated Wildcats. Mountlake Terrace, however, made Oak Harbor work for the tense 27-25, 24-26, 27-25, 25-15 win.
Perhaps the Wildcats (7-0) were looking past the last-place Hawks to their next match, a battle of unbeaten teams when Stanwood (8-0) visits at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4.
In the win over Terrace, Morgan Pease paced the offense with 20 kills and two aces. Cami Bristow added 13 kills and two aces, Payton Parks had seven kills and two aces, Ceirra Dean fired four aces and Leielle Salinger chipped in with five kills.
Leah Quidachay provided 41 assists.
On defense, Dean collected 22 digs, Bristow 16, Pease seven and Quidachay seven; Salinger and Parks each put up three blocks.
