Ceremony celebrates sewage treatment plant coming online

As part of the ceremony, Severns was able to hit a key on the laptop to direct the water cleaned by the plant to go directly into the harbor for the first time. State lawmakers, representatives from the EPA and the state Department of Ecology, a leader from the Swinomish tribal community, the director of the Puget Sound Partnership, city council members and public works staff attended the event in celebration. Severns pointed out that the project came to fruition only with the help from all these partners.
