Seconds into the fourth quarter of the Oak Harbor-Shorewood boys basketball game Friday, Dec. 14, the Oak Harbor High School gym went dark and the game was suspended.
After waiting 30 minutes to see if power would be restored, the game was suspended. A makeup date to complete the game has not been determined.
The Wildcats held a slight lead most of the way and were leading 46-42 when the power went out.
Dorian Hardin pumped in 9 points in the first quarter and the Wildcats went up 17-12.
Midway through the second period, Shorewood (1-0, 2-2) grabbed its only lead, 21-19, and then 23-19. Oak Harbor finished the half on a 9-4 run to go back in front 28-27.
The Wildcats pushed the lead to 8, 37-29, two minutes into the third period, then Shorewood recovered to tie the game at 37. Oak Harbor finished the quarter with a rush, going up 46-42.
Through three periods, Hardin has 16 points, Kevin Schuldt 11, Matt Kelley 6, Austin Boesch 5, Haven Brown 4 and Gavin Allen 4.
Oak Harbor (1-0, 2-3) plays at Edmonds-Woodway (0-2, 2-3) at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, and then hosts Lynnwood (1-1, 1-5) at 7:15 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21.
