Cold ’Cats fall at Mount Vernon / Girls basketball

Unable to get its offense on track, the Oak Harbor High School girls basketball team lost 38-25 at Mount Vernon Thursday, Dec. 27.

The Wildcats scored in single digits in three of the four quarters in the non-league loss and saw their season record fall to 2-7.

Oak Harbor plays its final non-conference game of the season when Cascade (0-9) visits at 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28.

Mount Vernon led 12-5 after the first quarter and then held the Wildcats to 2 points in the second period for a 26-7 halftime lead.

Oak Harbor limited the Bulldogs (3-6) to 12 points in the second half, 6 in each quarter, but struggled to cut into the deficit.

Mount Vernon held an 30-17 lead going into the fourth quarter.

Jasmine Ford paced Oak Harbor with 8 points, while Payton Parks scored 6, Olivia Waite 5, Miranda Wilson 4, Sarah Mensah 1 and Anna Jones 1.

Miranda Johnson scored 19 for the Bulldogs; no other Mount Vernon player scored more than 6 points.
