Oak Harbor resident Jason Lynch was killed when his car struck a log truck near the Skagit Regional Airport Tuesday afternoon.

Lynch, 43, was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier at a high rate of speed southbound on Higgins Airport Way, the state patrol reported.

Lynch’s car struck a northbound truck as the driver, 63-year-old David Espedal of Arlington, was attempting to turn onto Overnell Road.

Lynch was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in his car, 36-year-old Tyler Chrismon of Oak Harbor, was injured and treated at the scene.

Espedal was not injured.

The state patrol reported that neither drugs nor alcohol were factors in the accident. The cause is under investigation.
