The Oak Harbor High School cheer season got off to a successful start when the Wildcats earned a state-qualifying score in the first competition of the season Saturday, Nov. 23, at Bellarmine High School.
Oak Harbor posted a 67, good for second place in the medium non-tumbling division.
During the summer, the Wildcats, coached by Jazmin Jones, earned a qualifying score for the national championships, which is Feb. 1 and 2 at the Kay Bailey Convention Center in Dallas.
The state tournament is Feb. 8 at Battle Ground High School.
The Oak Harbor competition team includes Alyssa Carlon, Morgan Roundy, Saitiz Ramirez, Chelsea Lonborg, Jordan Hempeck, Emily Stanek, Krystal Wyum, Asya Pressley,
Annaliza Toliniu, Jada Jones, Jacob Bevill, Griffin Stein, Audrey Moyes, Haley Thompson, Melany Alanis, Angel Branzuela and Francisca Bartlett.
Oak Harbor has three more competitions lined up before heading to the postseason. It will travel to Auburn Mountainview High School Dec. 7, to Skyline High School Jan. 11 and to Kentwood High School Jan. 18.
