Stone surpasses 1,000-point mark / College basketball

Coupeville High School graduate Makana Stone, now playing basketball for Whitman College, passed the 1,000-point milestone in the Blues’ 71-52 win over Whittier College Monday, Nov. 25.

Stone, a senior, became the ninth player in school history to eclipse the 1,000-point barrier. She finished the Whittier game with 12 points and now sits at 1,010 for her career with 20 regular-season games and the postseason remaining.

Stone, who was an all-league, first-team selection last season, has helped Whitman to a 5-0 start this year. The Blues are currently ranked 21st in the country.
