Four Oak Harbor High School wrestlers placed in the Graham Morin Memorial Tournament Saturday, Dec. 21, in Bellingham.
Jamal Graham (132 pounds) placed second, Cole Valdez (120) third, Timothy Powers (126) third and Derek Salazar-Leyva (1-6) fifth.
As a team, Oak Harbor tied for 10th out of 17 schools with 89 points. Stanwood won with 207.
“Was a great tournament,” Oak Harbor coach Larry Falcon said. “We got a look at the Wesco North teams. We are competitive with them; however, when dual season comes it will be a matter of who captures the close matches.
“Wesco North is young but has a lot of talent coming up in those teams. It will be an exciting and intense season going in to subregionals as well.”
Oak Harbor will wrestle in the Battle of the Axe Tournament at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, in Port Angeles.
