Breaking a seven-game losing streak and picking up its first conference win along the way, the Oak Harbor High School girls basketball team walloped host Marysville-Pilchuck 58-25 Thursday, Jan. 23.
The Wildcats controlled the game throughout, zipping to a 20-7 first-quarter lead behind 8 points from Mikhaela Cortez.
Oak Harbor led 28-16 at halftime and then put the game away by outscoring the Tomahawks 20-2 in the third quarter.
Cortez led the Wildcats with 17 points, including hitting a trio of three-balls. Anna Jones scored 11 points, Grace Waite 10, Jasmine Ford 7, Chloe Frank 4, Payton Parks 4, Olivia Waite 3 and Paige Fortin 2.
Lauren Lewis, who tallied 14 points, was the only M-P (0-9, 2-13) player to score more than 2.
Oak Harbor (1-9, 7-9) hosts Snohomish (7-2, 7-8) at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28.
