Panthers pull away late to beat Wildcats / Girls basketball

The Snohomish High School girls basketball team outscored host Oak Harbor 20-6 in the fourth quarter to collect a 60-38 win Tuesday, Jan. 28.

The Wildcats (1-10, 7-10) hung with the Panthers (8-3, 8-9) for three quarters, trailing 14-13, 28-21 and 40-32 at the period breaks. But Snohomish, behind 6 points from Ella Gallatin and three-balls from Gracie VanAssche, Sara Rodgers and Jada Anderson, pulled away in the final frame.

Mikhaela Cortez led Oak Harbor with 11 points. Olivia Waite had 8, Anna Jones 8, Payton Parks 4, Jasmine Ford 3, Chloe Frank 2 and Grace Waite 2.

Gallatin finished with 14 for the Panthers.

Oak Harbor plays at Everett (4-5, 8-7) at 7:15 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31.
