Five Oak Harbor High School wrestlers placed among the top four at the boys sub-regional tournament Friday and Saturday, Feb. 7 and 8, at Snohomish High School and advance to this weekend’s regional meet.
The 3A Region I tournament is 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, at Bonney Lake High School and will include teams from the Western Conference, Northwest Conference and Pierce County League (Tacoma area).
Oak Harbor placed ninth out of nine teams at the sub-regional with 86.5 points. The host Panthers won with 285.
Jamal Graham (132 pounds) and Ivan Snyder (285) both finished third to lead Oak Harbor. Cole Valdez (120), Timothy Powers (126) and Evan Beerbower (152) all took fourth.
“Overall the team did really well,” coach Larry Falcon said. “We wrestled tough versus some great teams in the Wesco. There was not a match this weekend that was not close and contested by our wrestlers. I am absolutely proud of all of the wrestlers and their performances.”
