Oak Harbor coach Jon Atkins resigns / Girls basketball

Oak Harbor High School girls basketball coach Jon Atkins resigned Monday, March 23.

“With my decision to look for administration jobs this fall, the high school athletic director and I have decided that now would be a good time for a change in the program,” Atkins said. “I have thoroughly enjoyed my last seven years as the girls’ coach. I will miss all the relationships that have been created and the moments that we have had.”

The Wildcats’ highest finish under Atkins came in 2016 when they finished fourth in the Wesco North with a 4-7 record, qualifying for the district tournament. They were 8-14 overall.

This past season, Oak Harbor went 7-13.
