Dale Josephson: March 14, 1947 – Oct. 12, 2020

Dale Josephson of Las Vegas, Nev., 73, died suddenly on Oct. 12, 2020.

He was born at the Harpole Maternity Home in Coupeville, Wash., on March 14, 1947, then went home to live on the family farm in Freeland, Wash. He graduated from Langley High School in 1965. Soon after, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam. Following his tour, he moved to Idaho and then to Nevada, where he was self employed.

In 1993, he married Melissa Metcalf.

Dale was always a hard worker — getting chores done on the farm, helping with haying, doing gardening for some neighbors, working at the Freeland grocery store but always having a little time to shoot baskets against the barn’s hoop either alone or with siblings. Of course, there was deer hunting with his brother, dad and uncles.

He enjoyed his time in high school, especially playing basketball. Reunions with the class of 1965 as well as his extended family were events rarely missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Nora Josephson; brother Norm; sister Joan; and nephew Ben. He is survived by his wife Melissa; sisters Noreen (Jim) Forck and Roxann (Rich) Cannistra; sister-in-law Jan Josephson; uncle Leon (Ardella) Josephson; and many wonderful nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and lots of super cousins.

He loved his family and friends and will be missed by so many.

Dale will be laid to rest at Trinity Lutheran Church in Freeland, Wash., at a later date.
