In order to win this time around, Coupeville coach Randy King said, “We will have to control their shooters.” The Red Wolves’ primary weapon is Daniel Campbell, who scored 22 in the first meeting and put up 41 points on Granite Falls last Friday.
The Coupeville girls basketball team used the same recipe that Sultan used in defeating the Wolves last Friday to grab a 50-32 win over visiting Lakewood Tuesday.

The contest against Cascade (7-3, 9-5) was the first game of the second round of Western Conference play for Oak Harbor (2-7, 3-10). Oak Harbor hosts Snohomish (7-3, 8-6) Friday, Jan. 22, at 7:30 p.m. The Panthers, led by John McGee’s 30 points, came from behind to whip the Wildcats 53-48 when the teams first met Dec. 15.
Coupeville’s boys basketball team put together a solid effort and overcame testy conditions to defeat host Sultan 60-48 Friday, Jan. 15.
Colton Elliot’s weight-class championship led the way as eight Oak Harbor wrestlers placed at the Kelso Invitational Saturday, Jan. 16.
Sultan’s girls basketball team went on a 17-4 run in the second quarter to put visiting Coupeville in the rear view mirror in the Wolves 66-48 loss Friday, Jan. 15.
