When Dave Cross returned from a stroll with his dog, he couldn’t wait to tell his wife what he saw.
“He said, ‘You’re not going to believe what’s down by the beach,’” Patty Cross said.
The North Whidbey Island couple, who will celebrate their 37th wedding anniversary in May, was awed by a romantic message in the sand.
It’s two minutes past the hour and Gavin Keohane is late for breakfast.
Suddenly, a tall figure walks into the dimly lit Tyee Restaurant in Coupeville. It’s Keohane, wearing a familiar smile, light scruff on his face and his trademark black knit cap on his head.
“It’s been a while since I’ve eaten at the Tyee,” Keohane says as he takes a seat. “I ate here in high school all the time.
“It’s a bellwether in this town.”
Brandon Lewis can finally reveal his big secret.
For nearly two months, he kept his lips sealed around co-workers at Whidbey Island Naval Air Station. He was able to tell them he was on a game show, but couldn’t say how he fared. Loose lips could jeopardize his agreement.
But Wednesday morning, that all changed when The Price is Right aired his episode, revealing that Lewis not only appeared on the game show, he won the grand prize.
The idea was tantalizing to Allenda Jenkins.
But she knew that putting together the right cast to perform the challenging jazz musical revue, “Ain’t Misbehavin’,” would be no small feat.
“I always loved this musical and wanted to do this for a while,” Jenkins said. “A lot of it was finding the right pieces.”
