Oak Harbor residents pay an average of $240 per year for renters’ insurance — about 4.5 percent less than the statewide average, according to a study released last week by ValuePenguin, a New York-based consumer-finance website. Coupeville residents pay an average of $249, which is 1 percent below the average, while Langley residents pay $251, or 0.2 percent below average. Stateside, annual payments range from $227 a year to $301 a year. The averages reflect quotes from five major carriers for a 1,000-square-foot residence with $25,000 in personal-property coverage and $100,000 in liability coverage.
