All four Whidbey Island Windermere offices were closed Friday, June 19, for Community Service Day, as they do the third week in June every year.

The Oak Harbor office helped build dreams while siding and landscaping a Habitat for Humanity house.

“This was a very special day for us, as the awaiting homeowner was also on-site building away on her first home. We worked, we laughed, and most of all, we had a good time,” states a Windermere news release.

The Coupeville office agents, staff and family got together for a work party to clean up Fort Casey bunkers. The project included clearing gutters, scraping moss and dirt, shoveling and sweeping debris and trimming vegetation.

“It was a great transformation, and very rewarding as we watched children and parents explore and enter the bunkers as we were finishing the project,” states the Windermere release.

Each year the Windermere office looks forward to making a difference close to home. The park ranger and staff expressed their gratitude for the help, especially when budget cut-backs make it very hard to get everything done around the park.
