Big Brothers Big Sisters of Island County has awarded scholarships to two island graduates to help them on their way to higher education.

South Whidbey High School graduate Tabitha Helland received a scholarship for her long term commitment to BBBS. Helland joined BBBS as a Little Sister when she was 8, and went on to become a Big Sister. She was named Big Sister of the Year in 2009. She plans to attend Seattle University this fall.

Coupeville High School senior David Lile was awarded a scholarship for his exceptional work as a Big Brother. Lile served as a high school mentor for two years. He was named Big Brother of the Year in 2010.
