Gerry Ebalaroza-Tunnell teaches practice of resiliency; the ability to promote positive emotional perceptions and manage stress-induced reactions.
Ebalaroza-Tunnell is an instructor in an up-and-coming field of scientific observation and research revolving around the individual human heart and its connection to every other heart it encounters. A certified trainer of the Institute of HeartMath’s Resilience Advantage Program and a graduate from Antioch University’s Masters of Whole Systems Design, Ebalaroza-Tunnell is positioning herself to offer a progressive method of how to manage our daily challenges.
Serving in the United State Navy Reserves here at NAS Whidbey Island back in 1989 while simultaneously holding the title of Navy wife, and at the time, a mother of two young children, Ebalaroza-Tunnell is no stranger to the intricacies of daily challenges.
Ebalaroza-Tunnell has studied with the Institute of HeartMath and understands the importance of self-regulation techniques that is needed to build resilience and promote self-awareness in our everyday lives. She has learned that as you gain a heightened awareness of your emotional state, the experience of stress simply becomes a choice rather than an automated and uncontrollable reaction to external stressors.
“When we allow the stress of our emotions such as fear, anxiety, frustration, impatience, anger and intolerance to take control of the center of our heart, it can have negative consequences for our psychological, physiological, personal health and performance,” Ebalaroza-Tunnell said. “In learning to address and transform stress from within, you become an active contributor to your own health, balance, and fulfillment.”
This Memorial Day weekend, beginning at 4:30pm on Friday May 22 and running through noon on Monday, May 25, Ebalaroza-Tunnell will be bringing this gift of resilience to Whidbey Island. She will be facilitating the Resilience Advantage: Hidden Key to Balanced Living Retreat at the Whidbey Institute located at 6449 Old Pietila Rd., Clinton.
