Hospice and home health volunteers

The Home Health Care and Hospice of Whidbey General Hospital is seeking volunteers to visit with patients and families.

Volunteers are trained and equipped for this work, which may include providing respite for the caregiver, companionship for the patient, light housework and meal preparation, or running errands for the family. The work may also involve being with patients at the end of their life which many find to be a great privilege.

Volunteers typically spend two-to-four hours a week on their assignment. Monthly meetings offer ongoing education, sharing of case assignments, and good fellowship.

If you feel you would be interested in volunteering, please call Dave Bieniek, volunteer coordinator at 678-7605 or 321-6659. Training will begin at the end of October. Call Bieniek for more details and to schedule an interview.
