NASWI celebrates Anzac Day By NAS Whidbey Island Public Affairs • April 27, 2016 8:38 am Color guard members from Naval Air Station Whidbey Island (NASWI) and Fleet Readiness Center Northwest raise the national ensigns for the U.S., Australia and Canada during a flagpole ceremony at NASWI. NASWI hosted the ceremony to coincide with Anzac Day held every April 25 and in honor of the joint cooperation between the U.S. Navy, Royal Australian Air Force and Canadian Forces working and training here at the air station. Anzac Day is a national day of remembrance in Australia and New Zealand that broadly commemorates all Australians and New Zealanders who served and died in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations and the contribution and suffering of all those who have served.
