Jeff Miller, NAS Whidbey’s Facilities Management Division Director for Public Works Department, received the Navy Meritorious Civilian Service Award on June 12, 2014 from Capt. Chris Laplatney, Commanding Officer of Naval Facilities Engineering Command Northwest.
Miller played a key role in the successful planning of $342 million of work in four years affecting nearly every flight line facility. This work supported the basing and transition of EA-18G, P-8A and C-40 aircraft and squadrons at NAS Whidbey Island, and was essential to the Department of Defense’s Pacific Strategy.
The associated facilities projects constituted the largest buildup on base since the 1950s. He directed a small planning staff to develop the necessary projects and execution strategies to support the construction while simultaneously enabling all air station operations.
