I want to publicly thank the many volunteers who helped with the Coupeville schools grounds cleanup in early September, and especially Molly Hughes and Roberta Piercy for finding so many volunteers. With custodians cleaning up inside and school staff and volunteers tackling the grounds, students returned to a welcoming environment.
The school board, staff and I are pleased with enrollment for September. Although there was a slight decline (about 12 students) from last year, enrollment is well above our very conservative budget estimate. This gives us some flexibility to address class sizes at the elementary school.
I want to remind parents and patrons that there will be two community meetings this year (Oct. 12 and March 8) to share thoughts and concerns with the board, and several opportunities for conversations with me. Comments are always welcome at our school board meetings as well. Please visit the district Web site for meeting details, www.coupeville.k12.wa.us.
All district employees recognize how fortunate we are to have a community that values education!
