I’m about to rescue my fifth stray cat, a young neutered male, since moving here in 2009. I have found the stray and feral cat situation here out of control.

WAIF has an excellent spay and neuter program and they are a wonderful organization.

I do have a theory and it doesn’t involve just blaming the military.

I think people in the beginning have good intentions when they adopt a cat, but situations change people get transferred maybe a job is lost or some may just realize they no longer want the cat.

Instead of abandoning the animal after adoption, why not ask yourself beforehand if you’re thinking of the animal or just the need to have a pet for awhile.

Oak Harbor is considered transient by a lot of folks. Though some have good intentions, if you don’t plan on giving the cat a “forever home” don’t adopt. It becomes a recycling situation with the cat getting its heart broken.
