Editor,

Oak Harbor Main Street Association would like to thank Oak Harbor businesses and individuals for your trust and faith in our Main Street program. We are a new 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established with the mission to create a vibrant historic downtown waterfront community.

As a Washington Main Street Community we are able to offer businesses the opportunity to pledge a portion of their Business & Occupation tax to Oak Harbor Main Street Association to help with this revitalization.

The State of Washington has set a cap of $1.5 million dollars for this program. Funds became available on Jan. 1 and were gone by Jan. 4.

There are 34 Main Street communities in the State of Washington raising funds through this tax credit program, and we are thankful for the following businesses that successfully made a pledge over the New Year’s weekend to support our community: Whidbey SeaTac Shuttle, Rustica, Flyers, City of Oak Harbor, Peoples Bank, Margaret Livermore, Ron and Laura Apgar, Purple Moon, Wildwood Farm, Bayview Embroidery N Print, Puget Sound Energy, Heritage Bank, Jones Accounting, Law Offices of Christon C. Skinner, Robert Severns and Frasers Gourmet Hideaway.

Also, we would like to thank those who tried to pledge only to find out that the state cap had been reached.

We appreciate your support and look forward to working with all businesses from the City of Oak Harbor, local banks, services, retail and restaurants located inside and outside the district with the goal to make our historic downtown a vibrant community center.
