I am a regular visitor to the Coupeville area on Whidbey Island and can only wish there was a wonderful, free, environmentally friendly, public transit system where I live.
The public transit system where I am from in North Vancouver has poor service relative to the large amounts of tax we pay as well as the boarding fares which range from $2.50 to $5.
Enough cannot be said of the benefit of free public transit to the Island environment and to the good folks living here and to the example it sets to the world. To stress a point, I suggest upping the ante to request four-tenths of 1 percent, an additional 40 cents on $100, to add transit on Sundays. I cannot vote in favor of your transit ballot measure, but I hope your citizens will support it and vote yes on Aug. 18.
