In response to Bob Wilbur’s letter to the editor concerning the jet noise abuse in Central Paradise, I think he has reached a logical conclusion that is beyond reproach.

He said the Citizens of the Reserve has never indicated an interest in closing Whidbey Island Naval Air Station, just moving Outlying Field in Coupeville.

This is a statement I believe everyone can reach a logical conclusion to which came first — the egg or the ostrich?

Taking Bob Wilbur’s logical conclusion, it is OK if the air station remains and jets fly over Oak Harbor and other locations just as long as they do not fly near Central Paradise.

The second logical conclusion is that “it,” OLF Coupeville, drifted into the health and safety area and that the surrounding neighborhoods and ballfields were (there) first is a reasonable argument — if it was a duck that did not quack, walk and act like a duck.

Bob Wilbur, I believe, is saying it’s OK to have jets just not in his personal space.

I also agree with Bob Wilbur in recognizing there will always be ostriches, but the disagreement would be who the ostriches are.

Are they the ones who built near a runway and now complain, or the ones who are all for any type of activity that they disagree with, just as long as it is not in their Central Paradise?
