I was in junior high school in California when Proposition 13 passed, capping property taxes in California. The following year the school district no longer supplied busing for junior high school students, so we took public transit or walked to school.

When I entered high school, the class sizes had grown, teachers had been cut, school books were in sad shape and not renewed, and each year it only got worse.

After reading Mr. Eyman’s Initiative 1033 I immediately flashed back to my childhood and thought this is not good. As a citizen of this community and state I am OK with my property taxes providing money or “revenue” for education, social services and public health services, and frankly I am sick and tired of Mr. Eyman and his nearsighted, tightfisted, manipulative and hypocritical drivel.

Sure our government needs to be fiscally responsible, but we as a community and us as human beings have a responsibility to our children, to our senior citizens, to our indigent citizens, to each other and sometimes that requires a little bit of money.
