Editor,
To our Island County commissioners regarding the “occupation” of Wonn Road: I doubt that I am the only one to see the timely similarity between the misguided guys with guns occupying public lands in Oregon and the bullies with money in Greenbank occupying public road access.
The consensus out of Oregon seems to be that federal management allows for all people to enjoy public lands, and that it is time for the occupiers to go.
Yet, here on Whidbey, a majority of our county commissioners seem to feel that the Montgomerys of Wonn Road have some claim to public land by virtue of owning the property adjacent to it — and/or enough money to drag out this argument indefinitely.
Enough with the 60-page “settlement offer.”
All of our county commissioners should take the high ground of Commissioner Helen Price Johnson and insist that the Montgomery’s misguided wall come down.
