Homola helps budget and credit

I am amazed at the fantasy land that letter writer Mr. Adams must live in. Facts should be the basis for our political decisions, and it should be noted that the “Obama recession” actually started a full year before President Obama took office and is actually the Bush recession. It wasn’t until President Obama’s presidency that the increase in the growth of unemployment every month for the previous year was reversed.

On a local note, during the first three years of Angie Homola’s term as Island County commissioner, the county operating budget went from $34 million to $28 million (almost a 20 percent decrease) and yet the bond rating for Island County increased from A to AA. By any standards I have learned in my 45 years as a business manager and owner, this is an exemplary achievement and should be applauded, not ridiculed.

Angie Homola is good for Island County on many counts, and I for one look forward to another four years of her outstanding leadership.
