Here’s a concept that I’m certain sounds novel in this day and age. How about those who utilize the bus pay for it?
If I want to ride on an airplane, train or taxi then, Bingo! I pay for it. And here’s to every carpet-bagger carrying a vial of snake-oil who exclaims “it’s only .03 one-millionths of a percent.” All of your “only .03 whatevers” add up. I’m tired of footing the bill for you.
With all the “buy local” sloganeering one would think a low tax rate would help keep local dollars local, not drive them off the Island. Here’s a secret I’ll let you in on; I make almost all of my major purchases on the mainland. Keep driving the tax rate up and there will be another empty house on the market.
