To the voters of Island County, thank you for the landslide victory! I am pleased and grateful to be your judge for Island County Superior Court.
Your overwhelming vote means that you have approved of my work over the past 12 years and believe that I will continue to work in the future as hard and diligently as I have in the past. You have my assurance that I will not let you or the citizens of Island County down.
I have been pleased with the reception that I have had with each group that asked me to speak with them, from the Democrats to the Republicans and to those who are not affiliated with a political party. Thank you for your support, Sen. Mary Margaret Haugen, Linda Haddon, Mac McDowell, Phil Bakke, Grethe Cammermeyer, Norma Smith, and John Dean. It is with pride that I acknowledge that my support has crossed party lines because this reflects that the position of Island County Superior Court judge is truly a non-partisan office.
My thanks to Soroptimist International of Oak Harbor, to the Rotary Club of Oak Harbor, to the South Whidbey Kiwanis Club, and to others for your support. Thank you to those who came up to me and asked me for signs and asked what you could do to make sure I was reelected. I am deeply grateful for your support.
I want to especially thank Judge Alan Hancock for serving as honorary co-chair of my campaign committee and who showed his support, both as a friend and a respected colleague. Thank you to Mike McIntyre who led my campaign committee, both in 1996 and in 2008, and to Ken Sebens, Bill Hawkins and my husband, George Churchill. What a team!
I appreciate the support I received from the 132 judges throughout the state of Washington who know my credentials and who endorsed me. It was gratifying to be acknowledged by them. However, even more than that, I am deeply honored to be elected by all the voters in Island County who reelected me as judge of the Island County Superior Court.
VICKIE CHURCHILL, Judge
Island County Superior Court
