Just protect the status quo

Mr. Jeff Lauderdale, candidate for county commissioner, has fallen into a honey trap that is the tea party, an ultra-conservative scheme begun by the billionaire Koch brothers from Texas. The real impetus behind Mr. Lauderdale’s campaign is Mrs. Lauderdale, whose strengths are to be commended, and have been, through her husband’s rise from seaman to officer, a rise impossible without a woman. Meanwhile, the women on the current board of commissioners are lost without a man.

The political truth lies in where we live. We are here on these islands because they are idyllic, but all candidates talk about change. Why? They’re not going to make my life better, just more expensive because change is proposed by those who wish to fix what isn’t broken by addition.

The role of government is to manage the status quo, in a day-to-day manner, on behalf of the residents who they represents. Not to think, nor act, nor promote in their own self interest.

Progress is a double-edged sword that few have been able to wield without drawing blood. Soon, they only way to build homes on Whidbey will be up. I won’t be living here. Pity, it used to be a really nice place.
