Letter: Comments from retired officers was hysteria

Editor,

In response to the surprising, if not hysteria filled letter to the editor from a couple of former Marine Reservists, Retired, whose names I shall not mention because I’m confident had they actually proofread their letter prior to sending it and had any semblance of an open mind, would have surely hit the delete button.

If there is one thing my late, former Marine officer father taught me it’s historically proven American politics at every level is a contact sport. Since Hamilton and Burr, American political discourse has been full of everything from the sternly written letters to the editor all the way to the attempted assassinations of former presidents and active Candidates (T. Roosevelt and D. Trump.)

The use of our System of Justice( Lawfare) to punish one’s political opponents is nothing new, nor is the protestations of candidates and political parties when they fail to win elections(remember 2016, Hillary?). Political interference (the outright denial of the Biden laptop as Russian misinformation which has been proven to be Hunter’s own documentation of his pathetic criminal life) is just one of many examples throughout American history.

So buck up Marines and my fellow Americans!

My late father cast his final vote for Trump in 2016 when I chose not to vote for him or Clinton. But with the ability to have an open mind and observe Trump during his first term I did vote for him in 2020 and will certainly vote for Trump and his Republican ticket in November.

A rough and tumble political environment requires an open mind and calm under pressure. I saw that from the late USMC Lt. James P. McCarthy throughout my life. And we clearly don’t need hysteria filled letters to the editor from former enlisted officers.
