Letter: No evidence for Russian role in Trump election

Editor,

I beg to differ with Mr. Halling (April 9 letter), but the impeachment of President Trump was a canard. I waited in vain for Adam Schiff to bring forth the smoking gun that would prove Russian complicity in his election. That both impeachments were more a search for a crime then a prosecution of any wrongdoing is self-evident.

That witnesses claimed that Trump asked for things that were beyond his preview as president is not a crime unless they are acted on. Every president wants to do things not granted to them in the Constitution.

Dwight Eisenhower decided to go golfing when he found out that he couldn’t have members of the legislature shot for not carrying out his orders. Obama issued executive orders that were overturned by the courts, and Biden has ignored his oath of office more than any president in my lifetime. Perhaps the only reason Biden hasn’t been the subject of impeachment is his insurance policy of Kamala Harris.

Please get over the Trump obsession, accept that nothing he did was adverse to the good of the country and gave us the best economy in years. Can you say that for the president’s on either side of him?
