Editor,
Perhaps I am old fashioned but there were several letters to the editor in the last couple of weeks that I thought were offensive and puzzling. No, Kamela Harris is not a Marxist and FEMA funds did not go to undocumented immigrants any more than Haitian immigrants in Ohio were eating people’s pets.
There is nothing patriotic about spreading false rumors. The 9th Commandment tells us not to bear false witness, but this commandment is not getting much traction in these days of extreme partisanship. The right and decent thing to do is to verify claims made by your favorite presidential candidate before repeating them, and especially so if these claims are patently absurd as well as harmful. Being gullible does not serve the national interest.
