Just wanted to say something about the Jan. 12 letter from Ed Hickley. Right on, right.

I myself coming from a Communist country. I’ve served and retired from this great military and have seen those letters from these peoples that can’t or don’t want to understand how defending their country really works. These people who want to close our base down…..well, well, what can I say ? It sure brings a chuckle to me. What are these silly people ? Can they see the forest for the trees ? One does not appease the enemy by cutting back our military, with singing kumbaya, only with a strong military can we keep them at bay. Just saying.
