Mussels turn into computers

On behalf of the 206 members of the Coupeville Boys and Girls Club, our staff, volunteers and advisory group, I want to thank everyone who attended or donated to our Mussels on the Bluff fund-raiser. Because of your generosity, we were able to meet our goal to purchase 10 new computers for our club. The new computers will allow club members to use software donated by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, to access National Boys and Girls Club programs online.

Special thanks to Penn Cove Shellfish for donating mussels and the services of their wonderful Chef Big Steve who cooked the mussels to perfection. Thanks to our many sponsors: Anchorage Inn, Aqua Gifts, Bayleaf, Branch Business Services, Coupeville Lions Club, Crystal Water, David’s DVD Den, D&L Prairie Farms, Fresh Flower Express, Lind’s Pharmacy, Living Hope Foursquare Church, Lumbermen’s, Pizza Factory, Screaming Banshee Bakery, Seabolt’s Smoke House, Soroptimists International of Coupeville, People’s Bank, Wal-Mart, Whidbey Coffee, Whidbey Island Bank, Windermere Real Estate, and WSU Cooperative Extension for making this event possible. Special recognition is in order for a Lions Club member whose very generous donation helped us reach our goal, and for our hard working computer fundraising team: Carmen McFadyen, Kristina Harrison, Jackie Feusier, and Vivian Rogers-Decker.
