Unbelievable. If the Whidbey News-Times is correct, the City of Oak Harbor made $244,000 from timber off the 40 acres on Sleeper Road. This is how much the destruction of 40 acres of beautiful old growth forest is worth.

The city seems to have placed no value on clean air and sheer beauty this forest provided.

I wonder if this money will even cover the “reforestation, limb grinding, and appraisal of the property and mineral value” that is supposed to be done.

None of that will bring back the forest, and we still have to look at ugly bare ground.
