Editor,

In response to last week’s letter by Ty Welch regarding presidential administration lying about Benghazi, this is just another example of the leadership we are getting from the White House.

Remember Nov. 7, 2009 in Fort Hood, Texas? An army major of Arab descent went on a rampage, killing 12 fellow soldiers and wounding 31 more.

Within a short time former President George Bush and wife Laura were there trying to console the wounded and families of the dead. All night long they did what one would expect of a commander in chief, though he no longer held that job.

The wounded and all the other soldiers knew that their former president cared for them.

After about four days, President Barack Obama showed up.

Thousands of troops were lined up in perfect formation as the present commander took his place on the reviewing stand, with all the flags waving and media cameras rolling.

He gave his propaganda pitch and said, “We should not be too fast in judging the accused.”

Had I been one of those soldiers standing there thinking of my dead and wounded friends and hear our president make such a remark, I would have started action to resign.

And like that Johnny Paycheck hit song of 1978, I would have told Obama to “take this job and shove it.”

When it takes the commander in chief four days to check in on such a tragic act against his troops and then says for them not to be quick to judge the person they saw killing and wounding their comrades, I would find it hard to look up to him as my leader.
