If I bought a coat at $8,000 for the same quality as I could have paid $800, I suppose I could find a crowd who would ooh and aah. Well, that’s what happened to Pioneer Way. We spent about $8 million on a road with marginally better utility, if any. We spent another $6.2 million on Highway 20 at Arnold Road for a highway that became more dangerous. If we had torn down 100 houses that were free and clear and worth $250,000, we would have done no more damage.
Our public officials say they’ve done all they can to avoid waste, and unless we pay them more, they will take away our swimming hole. I see corruption and waste at every turn. I wear an $8 coat I bought at a thrift that’s as warm as the $8,000 coat. That’s private enterprise.
