Pray future leadership is better than Obama | Letter

I would like to mention that when I read the counterpoint (“Comparison is Wrong...”) to my Aug. 9 letter to the editor, President Barack Obama was in Martha’s Vineyard on vacation while the world was going to hell in a handbasket.

Editor,

I would like to mention that when I read the counterpoint (“Comparison is Wrong…”) to my Aug. 9 letter to the editor, President Barack Obama was in Martha’s Vineyard on vacation while the world was going to hell in a handbasket.

It should be readily apparent to the most casual of readers that you, Mr. Richard Johnston, I spelled your name correctly [Editor’s note: Johnston misspelled Stilwell’s name in a previous letter to the editor] are still living in the past … at a time when Obama baffled the voters with his eloquent speeches and claims of “transparency” of his administration.

That was six years ago, and you are lagging far behind both the times and public opinion. A recent Wall Street Journal poll reported that only 11 percent of those polled, apparently along with you, thought the Obama administration was “very competent.”

Is that “much loved”?

Only 39 percent said the administration was “somewhat competent,” while the other 60 percent said, “not too competent.”

As to the first two groups, one might opine, “Some (including you) drank the Kool-Aid while others (in the second group) just sipped it.”

You further asked what major concerns I was referring to when saying that Obama was “detached” from major foreign and domestic concerns.

I can only imagine that the hot Arizona sun has altered your comprehension of world affairs.

I will identify those areas to which I referred, not necessarily in order of importance: IRS Scandal, VA Scandal, Benghazi, ISIS, Iraq, Hamas/Israel, Syria, Christians being slaughtered by ISIS, to name but just a few.

As to ISIS, yes, he’s ordered some symbolic air strikes. Then to include ObamaCare as an “accomplishment” is truly laughable.

Skyrocketing premiums have caused the majority of Americans to reject it as a viable overhaul of healthcare in America.

It was touted as a charitable move to cover the uninsured, which it doesn’t, to lower health insurance costs, which it doesn’t, and claimed to allow patients to keep their doctors, which it doesn’t.

Regarding Osama Bin Laden … yes, Obama took all the credit; however, this was a military operation he approved, to his credit, over Valerie Jarrett’s objection.

Obama is merely the puppet in a House of Cards, and the puppeteer is Jarrett … or is that a new name to you, Mr. Johnston?

But let’s give credit where it is due; the military and the Navy SEALS who carried out the mission are the ones who deserve the accolades.

The “improving economy” under Obama? Really? The National Debt is rising at an unprecedented rate.

The Stock Market has soared only because the U.S. government has been augmenting the economy to the tune of $75 to $85 billion monthly.

And again, Obama was on the phone to congratulate a gay football player for being drafted in the NFL while showing no effort in getting our Marine (Andrew Tahmooressi) freed from a Tijuana jail where he has been wrongly held for four months. Obama did find time, however, to honor the parents of accused Army deserter (Bowe Bergdahl) at the White House.

And, Mr. Johnston, for you to insinuate that I do not love this country is beyond disgusting. Some might consider your remarks fighting words. Your statement cannot be further from the truth. And to use a baseball term as you like to do, you are “way off base.” I have served this country honorably, both as a Naval Officer and an NCIS Special Agent.

Your “commander in chief” is a “commander” in name only who falsely claims terrorists are “on the run.”

However, they will be on our doorstep a lot quicker than you can imagine, thanks to Obama’s inaction.

I just pray that future leadership of this country can regain the respect of both its citizens and other nations, for Obama has seriously undermined America’s status in the world shortly after the day he initially took office.
