Sailors save the day again

Last week I was trying to make a right turn from Scenic Heights onto Highway 20. Across the highway I noticed an unattended electric cart, the sort used by older, or handicapped, folks. They are valuable items, so I looked for the owner.

Sure enough, there he was, supported by a cane and burdened by groceries, laboring up the hill toward Cackle Corner. His cart batteries had run out of juice.

I decided to turn left and help. As I waited for a break in the traffic a white SUV pulled up near the older gentleman and a conversation appeared to take place.

Then three sailors jumped out, retrieved the electric cart, and loaded it into the back of the vehicle. The older gentleman and his groceries were also boarded. The SUV went up the hill in the direction the older gentleman had been so slowly hobbling.

I gave them a thumbs up, and was rewarded with a smile. Not all Navy heroes are born under fire. God bless the Navy!
