Thank you for a well done article on the pending lodging tax legislation (News-Times, April 18). My main concern is on behalf of the lodging industry in Island County and the future of the second 2 percent lodging tax. Island County lodges lobbied to add the second 2 percent as a room tax charged to their customers so they would have a dedicated budget to promote overnight tourism. If that money is not used for its original purpose, the lodging businesses may choose to eliminate that tax in the future.
